Nashville

Well, I finally feel like I am settling into a routine after our big Nashville trip. My husband and I went the the annual 3rd Recruiting Brigade Family Symposium last week and had a great time. We were sent to represent our company and discuss issues that our facing the recruiters/family members/spouses and then work on way to implement change/improvements. It was a great experience!! It can be very liberating when you realize that you have a voice and it wants to be heard.

We met some great people who I know we will stay in contact with for years. That is what is great about the military, by pure chance or not-so-chance you may end up meeting someone that will have a positive impact on your life not only today but in years to come.

I was able to get the word out about Operation Life Coach and it seems the more I speak with people the more and more confident that I am that I can help so many people and can help improve their quality of life which is also very liberating and exciting!!! I walked away from that experience feeling positive, motivated and rejuvenated!!!

I am in the works for a new topic for my OperationLifeCoachTalkRadio for the month of April and will get out more details as soon as they are available. Until then!!!!

03.04.08

My newest testimonal, I am so proud!!!!

Collette was a great help in coaching my life. It was so wonderful to have an outside person look in and give me direction to help me get to where I want to be in my life & reach my personal goals. I recommend Collette to anyone who wants to see how they can reach their personal goals and get to where they see themselves 5, 10, 15 years from now. She gives great, realistic advice, and works with you to attain what YOU want out of life, not where modern days SAYS you should be. She asked some tough questions that really got me to think about what I wanted, about how important it was to me to get there, and made me realize that if I wanted to reach certain goals, that I had to make the effort. - AR

Groove Is In The Heart

When we are growing up, we are all searching for our identity and searching for what makes us unique. Being a twin, I was always searching for my identity and sometimes the lines would become blurry…I wanted so desperately to be myself..whatever that was. My whole life has been a journey, constantly seeking out who I am, what I am about, what I stand for, what is important to me…sometimes these answers have stayed the same throughout my life, some have changed.

An example of what has remained constant in my journey has been music. Not necessarily the same music, my tastes have changed a bit over the years but not drastically. When growing up I was influenced by my older sister who listened to U2 and the Cure along with so much more. My twin listened to all sorts of music too, she will kill me but she was a big Micheal Bolton and Celine fan. In my search for my music identity I finally found my band, the music that sounded the way I felt (loosely quoted by Slash from GNR). Here in begins my love affair with Aerosmith. My love for everything Aerosmith began around the age of 15 and still goes strong today at 31. You could find me putting on little concerts in front of my sisters singing “What it Takes” at age 16 and I think, we would have to ask Colleen, but there is a recording of me singing it also when I was 30…total comedy…I can’t sing at all but boy do I sing with passion and conviction..ha..ha.

Why am I going on about music you ask?? Music has helped me through the good and the bad times, has helped me grow closer to others…an example would be my husband. We are about the same age so we have always shared some of the same taste in music. He has helped me appreciate (not necessarily dig) Nirvana and other music while I have done the same for him. His love for metal is a little more extreme for my taste since I am more of a hair-band type of girl and 80’s explosion (think Journey, REO, Air Supply and countless others) but we share a passion for Metalicca, GNR, AC/DC etc. On a normal day when both of us are around, cleaning the house or chilling there is music playing somewhere. When he throws on GNR’s “Don’t Cry” or “November Rain” or my favorite “I Used To Love Her”, I feel young again and all the tasks that lie ahead…dishes, house cleaning and/or laundry…they don’t seem as daunting.

Okay, I know this is getting to be a long post, are you all still with me?? The point of all of this in a nutshell (look I am in a nutshell) is that going back to your roots to find your identity or “wake it up” can really improve your quality of life. What was important to you back then, what excited you, what turned you on, what made you smile??? All of these questions will help you “dial” back into your life and may help you realize that what was important to you back then may still be important to you. The next step is implementing it into your life however possible. I guarantee it will make a difference in every single day of the rest of your life.

To quote my old friend Steven Tyler, “life’s a journey, not a destination”.

Out With the Old...in With the New

As always with the New Year, there is lots of talk about resolutions...note to self and everyone...I love resolutions. Even if for some reason they don't work out..or by next month you have lost your focus (that is when you need me, your life coach)...it is still positive to want to improve your quality of life. Just consciously thinking about your life as a whole..even if it is once a year can't be all bad can it???? What if you never thought about it and therefore never took the time to be grateful for what you have, how you feel and the future ahead.

So here is my two cents on the New Year...resolutions...even with their bad reputation and all their stigmas attached are pretty cool and necessary in my book....that is when I write my book someday!!!!

Warm Up During the Cold Season with a Blanket Statement

Oh the dreaded blanket statement!!! "I am going to do this, I am going to stop doing that."

How many of you out there hate blanket statements…visualize me raising my hand. For years I fought the blanket statement…I never wanted to lock myself in or back myself into a corner with a blanket statement. The reason is obvious…what if I fail?? Then I will have to go back to everyone that I said my blanket statement to out-loud and explain why I did not follow through on that statement.

I am realizing and so are my clients, that blanket statements are not the devil. In actuality, they are the opposite, they are sent from above.

Please listen to my virtual radio show, ,OperationLifeCoachTalkRadio where I will be discussing my new found love for blanket statements!!!! The show is scheduled for 8pmCST on Wednesday November 28th!! I look forward to hearing from all of you during and/or after the show!!! Come with questions, solutions and opinions!!!
